The Hay-on-Wye Music Festival takes on a different format this year in
the shape of an acoustic talent contest for singers.
Mel Cooper of One Stop Entertainment, who is promoting the free
event at Hay Community Centre on July 12th said.
Forget about the X Factor this is the U Factor.
In other words this is a chance for you to showcase your talent he emphasised.
We have no celebrity judges stealing the lime light it will be strictly
no comment from those of us choosing the winner.
This will be your show.
Entry is free and a TWO HUNDRED POUNDS prize is up for
grabs for the overall winner. Budding vocal stars aged 16 or over should
prepare two songs, one up tempo and one slow number for the contest.
Although entry is free for everyone participants are
asked to register their entry beforehand (only one per person) to guarantee

Only a very limited number of entries will be available on the day for

The contest starts at 12 Noon and will wind up at 7.30pm when the winner
will be announced.
Free entertainment from the Steve Herbert Rock Band playing
from 8.30pm till 11.00pm will round off the evening a licensed bar with
food will be available all day.
There is a lot of talent out there said Mel and we are keen to bring it
into the public eye. And you never know what talent scouts might be in
the audience. This could be your break into the music business.
